The Kokako vineyard is planted on the old Ngaruroro riverbed in the Ohiti Valley. The coarse, free draining soil structure consists of stones within layers of silt and sand deposits. The warm season of 1,420 Growing Degree Days, low rainfall and low yields lead to the hand-picking of fruit in perfect condition showing intense flavour concentration and balanced acidity.

“Flagship chardonnay from a top producer. 1,600 bottles made. Intense and quite complex chardonnay with grapefruit, citrus, white peach, struck flint, mineral, hazelnut, brioche and bran biscuit flavours. A powerful wine that can be appreciated now but will continue to develop with bottle age.”
