2014 was an outstanding Hawkes Bay vintage and joins 2013 as one of the truly great vintages of all time
This perfumed Cabernet Sauvignon from the Gimblett Gravels winegrowing District shows intense aromatics of blackcurrant, dried herbs, graphite and cedar notes. The rich and concentrated palate of dark fruit combines with integrated cedar, spice and mocha notes. Elegantly balanced, and textured with fine grained tannins this wine finishes with excellent mineral length. Distinct and ageworthy with the ability to age gracefully for up to 20 years from vintage in good cellar conditions.

2014 was an outstanding Hawkes Bay vintage and joins 2013 as one of the truly great vintages of all time. Warm, dry and settled conditions prevailed throughout the season allowing the picking decision to be based purely on flavour and balance. Naturally low yielding vines combined with early season “green harvesting” and meticulous canopy management throughout the season have rewarded us with perfect ripeness, flavour development, concentration and tannin maturity.
Fruit for this wine was grown entirely in our Omahu Gravels vineyard situated in the heart of the premium Gimblett Gravels Wine Growing District where the soil is made up of relatively recent alluvial deposits of gravel with varying degrees of silt and sand. These naturally free-draining, low vigour and “lean” sites combined with detailed vineyard knowledge and the ideal growing season of 2014 has produced a wine of international standard showing intensity, texture and depth of flavour.
“A flagship wine that thoroughly justifies its exalted status. Should develop magnificently with bottle age.”
