The country’s best Syrah producer

Another trophy has been bestowed on a Vidal Syrah, proving when it comes to making the country’s best Syrah, Vidal is forging a path of success like no other.

The Romeo Bragato Wine Award results announced Vidal’s triumph, with three out of the five Syrah golds going to Vidal wines and the coveted Champion Syrah Trophy bestowed on the high achieving 2009 Vidal Legacy Series Gimblett Gravels Syrah.

This trophy winning wine is one that has already been awarded trophies at the prestigious Decanter Wine Awards (UK), Air New Zealand Wine Awards and the Easter Show Wine Awards (NZ).

Vidal Winemaker Hugh Crichton says Hawkes Bay Syrah is certainly grabbing the attention of the local and international wine press

“Whilst production volumes are relatively small, the best from the region have the ability to go head to head with some of the finest examples in the world. To also receive Syrah golds at Bragato for our 2010 Legacy Syrah and 2010 Reserve Series Syrah is testament to the focus we have on this variety as well as its natural fit with our climate and soils,” he said.
